We offer parents :
- Telephone helpline support Mon-Fri 9.00am-4.30pm except term-time Weds which are 5.00pm-8.00pm (minicom and 24 hour message service)
- Individual support from a volunteer (IPS) to support with form-filling, report or letter writing, support at education-related meetings or to talk through options eg school placement issues
- Support at Drop-In sessions at local venues
- training around special needs issues in education
- A dedicated Asian support worker
- Specialist advice and support around exclusions
- A dedicated group worker to support parents’ groups
- Cool Kids group to ensure the views of children with
SEN/disabilities can influence and inform the planning of services
which impact on them
Regular termly news bulletin for parents
Information in a range of community languages and alternative formats - Information via our general website http://www.ppsnotts.org.uk/
- Opportunities to be involved in informing and influencing the development of services for children with SEN/disabilities and their families eg vis steering group memberships
- A website to enable wider participation of parents in service development http://www.pps-speakup.org.uk/
- The opportunity to be involved in our own service development via membership of our Stakeholder Group
- Close links with a complementary service to support parents in issues related to benefits, housing, social care and health
