Bromley PPS

The Bromley Parent Partnership offers impartial and confidential advice to parents and carers of children with special educational needs. The service is provided on behalf of Bromley Local Authority (LA) through the Bromley Children Project.
The service offers:
- Impartial information, confidential advice and support;
- An explanation of how the special educational needs of pre-school and school age children in Bromley are identified and monitored;
- Help in understanding educational jargon and assistance with writing reports and letters;
- Help to enable parents/carers to explore the different options open to them for their child’s education;
- Support, by putting parents in touch with others who can help - local agencies and support groups, as well as national organisations
- Facilitated meetings between parents, schools and statutory services
The service can help prevent difficulties developing into disagreements. Where disagreements do occur the Parent Partnership Service tries to arrange meetings to resolve issues locally or, where this has been exhausted, by referring the family to Disagreement Resolution through the London SEN Disagreement Resolution Service. At the same time, the right of Appeal through the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SEND) is explained.
