Coventry PPS

Coventry Parent Partnership Service provides impartial advice, information and support to parents/carers of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) or excluded from school. 

We provide accurate, unbiased information on the full range of options available to parents to help them make informed decisions and enable them to play an active role in the education of their child. 

We work closely with parents, schools and other statutory and voluntary agencies to offer:

• Individual support to parents/carers of children from 0–19 years old with special educational needs (SEN) 
• Individual support to parents / carers of children 0-19 years old excluded or at risk of exclusion from school;
• Information on local and national parents' support groups and voluntary organisations;
• Information about anti-bullying organisations;
• parent-to-parent support through daytime and evening meetings and workshops;
• A web-site with useful internal and external links, downloadable leaflets, our newsletter and SEN Directory of local parent support groups and voluntary organisations;
• Opportunities for parents to influence the development of services for children with SEN/ disabilities, which reflect parental concerns and opinions;
• A Parents' Forum which offers the opportunity for parents to meet with a range of SEN professionals, and the chance to speak directly to Senior Officers who have responsibility for SEN within Coventry;
• Access to our Resource Centre, magazines and resources relating to SEN/ social inclusion /disability, which are available for loan, including supported internet access;
• Information about the independent SEN mediation service.

The Service also facilitates the 'One Voice Parents' Group' which helps to influence and shape services for disabled children in line with the Parent Participation strand of the government programme, 'Aiming High for Disabled Children'.
