Hackney Independent Parental Supporter scheme
Independent Parental Supporters (IPS) provide impartial and confidential information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with SEN. Most, like the ones in this video are volunteers, although some may be paid staff. Parent Partnership Services vary considerably across the country and not all will have IPS's. Hackney IPS scheme is unique. It works well in this small London borough where there are a lot of families with English as an additional language and where they have a paid member of staff who manages the IPS.
